Самое необыкновенное ощущение в космическом полете – это невесомость. Это она определяет разницу между обычным полетом около земли и космическим полетом. Все радости и неожиданности, все лучшее и трудное, с чем приходится сталкиваться космонавту в полете, связано с невесомостью.
Большинство космонавтов поначалу страдает от «космической болезни», вызванной состоянием невесомости. Она выражается, в первую очередь, в тошноте и головокружении. Практически каждый астронавт пережил «космическую» болезнь. При отсутствии гравитации, сигналы вестибулярного аппарата становятся противоречивыми. Данный недуг длится несколько дней и проявляется в виде потери ощущения собственных конечностей и дезориентации. Пребывание в невесомости существенно снижает количество кальция в костях.
«Путешествуя» по космосу, человеку трудно привыкнуть к сформировавшемуся режиму дня и ночи. Поэтому космонавты на борту МКС просыпаются и встают по сигналу, отправляемому из Центра Управления полётами на Земле.
Из космоса астронавты наблюдают то, что никогда не увидеть на Земле: Землю – голубой диск на чёрном фоне, обратную сторону Луны, а также странные вспышки света в глазах. Оказывается, это вовсе не свет, а космическая радиация, которая воспринимается мозгом как вспышка. Подобные вспышки очень вредны для глаз, и многие космонавты впоследствии имеют проблемы со зрением.
В течение дня восход Солнца на орбите можно наблюдать шестнадцать раз, поэтому космонавты придерживаются условного «земного времени».
На орбите рост космонавтов увеличивается в среднем на 4-5 сантиметров, так как позвоночник, на который более не воздействует земная гравитация, распрямляется. У многих космонавтов во время полётов возникают осложнения со спиной, сопровождаемые болью и защемлением нервов.
В космосе выбора нет— спортом занимаются все космонавты. Спортивных снарядов на МКС четыре: две беговые дорожки, велотренажёр и вакуумный тренажёр-штанга.
Наш организм приспособлен к гравитационному притяжению и если его нет, то начинаются опасные процессы: развивается атрофия мышц, меняется нагрузка на сердце и распределение крови по телу.
Для космонавта жизненно необходимо поддерживать уровень спортивных нагрузок на должном уровне. В этом им помогают велоэргонометры (или, проще говоря, велотренажёры), к которым завоеватели космоса «приковывают» себя с помощью ремней. Нагрузка сравнима с той, если бы космонавт крутил педали городского велосипеда, надев скафандр.
Многие продукты космонавты употребляют только в жидком виде, из тюбиков. В космосе некоторые продукты и специи можно употреблять только в жидком виде. Например, соль и перец могут попросту от вас уплыть. Это опасно засорением вентиляторов и оборудования и неприятно при попадании в глаза.
Самое трудное после возвращения на Землю – привыкнуть к тому, что предметы падают вниз, а не продолжают болтаться рядом, если их отпустить. Космонавты после долгого пребывания в космосе долго привыкают к гравитации, бьют предметы, по привычке отпуская их, в течение нескольких месяцев после полёта.
В космосе невозможно принимать ванну, для гигиены используют влажные губки и салфетки. Проблематично также почистить зубы, пену от зубной пасты приходится глотать. Поэтому зубная паста у космонавтов специальная, условно съедобная.
Умываются здесь так же, как на Земле, только вода не течет из-под крана, а хранится в полиэтиленовом пакете с трубкой.
Несмотря на отсутствие земного тяготения, выпущенная из сосуда вода не разлетается по всему отсеку. Сила поверхностного натяжения удерживает небольшое количество воды на коже астронавтов, поэтому ее можно растереть по телу, смешав с гелем для душа, – так астронавты и поступают. Потом остатки воды собирают полотенцем, которое оставляют висеть возле окошка вентиляции. Температура на станции поддерживается комнатная, так что вода довольно быстро испаряется и всасывается в вентиляционную шахту. Там влага снова конденсируется, выводится для очистки и вскоре вновь готова к использованию. Мужская часть экипажа бреется и станками, и электробритвами. Делают это возле вытяжки, чтобы срезанные волосы не разлетелись по всему отсеку, а потом вытяжку чистят пылесосом. Так же, с пылесосом, стригут ногти.
Спят покорители космоса в одежде, в спальных мешках и наушниках с шумоподавлением: вентиляция сильно шумит, поэтому без наушников спать здесь не только сложно, но и вредно для ушей. В спальных мешках космонавтов есть прорези для рук и ремни, которыми мешки пристегиваются к стене, – чтобы люди не летали во сне.
И вот ещё интересный факт- те астронавты, которые храпели на Земле, спят в космосе очень тихо. Отсутствие силы тяжести уменьшает храп.
Как у любых работников бюджетной сферы на Земле, в космосе предусмотрены 40-часовая рабочая неделя и два выходных дня, суббота и воскресенье. Хотя, если быть точным, то полтора дня, так как половина субботы посвящена плановой уборке станции.
Безусловно, самым популярным «видом спорта» на станции является фотографирование. Это как настоящая охота! У каждого космонавта есть желание снять какое-то интересное место на Земле или исторический объект, который чем-то известен. Далее в рейтинге любимых дел после фотографирования Земли, космического пространства и звёзд, следуют просмотр фильмов, прослушивание музыки и чтение.
И вот что интересно: из иллюминаторов своего корабля космонавты могут различить египетские Пирамиды, большие аэропорты, города на Земле. А вот Великую Китайскую стену, вопреки бытующему мнению, из космоса не видно.
Несмотря на то, что члены космического экипажа находятся далеко от Земли, они не забывают о тех, кто их ждёт дома. Каждый год из космоса записывается поздравление землянам на русском и английском языках. В свою очередь, космонавты могут увидеть праздничные салюты, которые в новогоднюю ночь запускает вся планета Земля.
А теперь немного слов о традициях и суевериях покорителей космического пространства.
Ритуал, предшествующий отправке на орбиту, начинается ещё в Звёздном городке, где космонавты сначала посещают мемориал, посвящённый памяти Юрия Гагарина, а так же первых космонавтов, погибших во время выполнения космических миссий – Владимира Комарова, Георгия Добровольского, Виктора Пацаева, Владислава Волкова. Здесь космонавты обязательно оставляют цветы, красные гвоздики. После посещения мемориалов космонавты отправляются в рабочий кабинет Юрия Гагарина, вписывают свои слова в книгу посетителей, а так же, по слухам, мысленно взывают к духу Гагарина. Они выпрашивают у него позволения отправиться в полёт.
В полет по традиции космонавты берут с собой веточку полыни, так как она дольше остальных растений сохраняет запах и напоминает о Земле, а на стартовый комплекс экипаж принято провожать под песню «Земля в иллюминаторе».
Достоверно известно, что Королев не любил старты по понедельникам и всегда переносил дату, если она падала на понедельник. Почему – так и осталось большой загадкой. Тем не менее, свою точку зрения Королев отстаивал на самом верху, из-за этого даже разгорались нешуточные конфликты.
Космонавты никогда не дают автографов до первого полёта. Некоторые принципиально избегают ставить автографы чёрными чернилами.
С удовольствием оставляют космонавты автографы и на двери гостиничного номера, где проводят ночь пред стартом. Закрашивать или смывать эти автографы категорически запрещено.
Старт какого-либо корабля космонавты никогда не назовут «последним»: к примеру, «последний старт к станции Мир…» предпочтут назвать «крайним», «итоговым». Также космонавты никогда не прощаются с провожающими.
На космодроме в Плесецке перед запуском ракеты-носителя на ней обязательно пишут «Таня». Говорят, это имя вывел на первой ракете влюбленный в некую Таню офицер. Перед стартом космонавты обязательно смотрят «Белое солнце пустыни». На борту экипаж традиционно встречают с хлебом и солью.
По возвращению экипажу так же предстоит исполнить ряд ритуалов: расписаться на покрытой копотью оболочке спускаемой капсулы и внутри салона вертолёта, который их забрал, высадка дерева, отдание должного Юрию Гагарину – посещение мемориала.
Каждый день космонавты встречаются лицом к лицу с неведомым, рискуют жизнью и мирятся с ухудшением здоровья в условиях невесомости, но они двигают вперёд науку. Мечта о космосе — то, что сопровождает каждого космонавта на протяжении всей его жизни, становится самой её целью, и самые упорные и смелые из них навсегда вписывают в историю свои имена.
